TNs: Zin is delicious (Carlisle, Novy, Selyem)

  • 2006 Novy Family Wines Zinfandel Barbieri Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (1/16/2010)
14.7% alcohol. This keeps opening beautifully. Red and black fruit on the nose, with terrific spice character. In the mouth, spice-laced black fruit and minerals. Strong acidity and a powerful, memorable finish that leaves a most positive impression. A-
  • 2007 Williams Selyem Zinfandel Forchini Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (1/16/2010)
14.8% alcohol. Beautiful nose of brambly black fruit and spice. In the mouth, concentrated and forceful, with loads of fruit and a slight creaminess. Strong acidity and a long finish. This is classy, excellent stuff. A-
  • 2007 Carlisle Zinfandel Carlisle Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (1/15/2010)
14.8% alcohol. Lovely wine, just like all the 2007s from Carlisle. Big, briary nose of blue and black fruits, with a slight hint of oak. In the mouth, just beautiful and pure, with big fruit all the way. Solid acidity and a deliciously long finish. Sure, it’s young and still a bit tight, but this is awesome stuff. A-

Agreed, zin is delicious!

I popped my last Radio-Coteau zin, an '06, this past weekend.

I really dig this zin and can’t believe RC is no longer going to produce one from the Von Wiedlich vineyard.

I have not tried my 2007s yet (and won’t for a while but thanks for the note), but if you have any 2004 Carlisle Carlisle Vyd. Zin and have not opened any for a while, I suggest you do so. I opened one last Friday and it was OMFG good. Even my wife agreed, for a change. I’m just sayin’.

The Barbieri Vineyard is seriously good. Some of the old Deloach zins from there were wonderful.

Thanks for all your TNs!

I agree with you on the Novy Barbirie. I had several bottles but they are gone way too soon. My impression was lot’s of good fruit. Very tasty. Wish I had more. I have a 2006 Novy Carlisle and a 2006 Carlisle Carlisle that I am planning to try together. Cant’t wait.
