  • 2006 Zepaltas Pinot Noir La Cruz Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (12/1/2009)
14.5% alcohol. Dark cherry color. Funky on the nose, with black cherry, blackberry, and earth. In the mouth, plush and velvety, with great texture, excellent black cherry and blackberry fruit and solid complexity. Good acidity and a soft finish. Very pleasant and drinkable now. A-
  • 2007 Copain Syrah Tous Ensemble - USA, California, North Coast, Mendocino County (11/28/2009)
14.2% alcohol. Just a terrific wine, packed with flavor. A meaty edge came through to the peppery blue and black fruit. In the mouth, pure and concentrated, with beautiful fruit and brilliant complexity. A light hand guides the structure, and this is impeccably balanced. Delicious. A-
  • 2007 Siduri Pinot Noir Willamette Valley - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (11/28/2009)
14.1% alcohol. Same as the October 11 bottle – pure red fruit, spice, with a nice mineral streak. A delightfully tasty wine that is supremely enjoyable now. A-
  • N.V. Scherrer Winery Zinfandoodle 6.7 - USA, California (11/28/2009)
14.5% alcohol. Classic Scherrer expression here. Terrific dusty cherry, spice, and black fruit on the nose. In the mouth, open for business, with a plush texture and excellent balance. The emphasis is all on fruit, with a solid spice component backing it up. Soft in the mouth and ready to drink. A-

Because of where I put them in the cellar, most of my Zepaltases (Zepalti?) have been sitting there untouched since I got them. Thanks for the reminder to open one up.

Amazing, even Fred’s ‘reject blend’ (Zinfandoodle) is apparently an epic wine. He sure can do wonders with Zinfandel…and Cab, and Pinot…

Yeah, the Zinfandoodle is good stuff … I actually the Zepaltas in the deep recesses, but I just moved and had to unload the cellar … so I pulled this out since I’m drinking 2006s on the earlier side while 2005 and 2007 sleep.
