2006 75 (Nineteen Seventy Five) Wine Company Cabernet Sauvignon Amber Knolls Vineyard - USA, California, North Coast, Red Hills Lake County (1/17/2010)
14.5% alcohol. Initially oak-laden on the nose. As it opened up, this became very pretty. Black currant and cedar on the nose, with the fruit and tobacco notes added into the palate. This is surprisingly drinkable and smooth. Very strong value here. B+ -
2006 Loring Wine Company Pinot Noir Rosella’s Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands (1/17/2010)
14.5% alcohol. This is just drinking so well. Aromatic nose of black cherry, blackberry, grapefruit, and flowers. In the mouth, this just rocks because it is so juicy and delicious. Pure fruit, with a slightly jammy edge to it. Bright acidity. Solid finish. It’s just terrific and drinking so well. A- -
2007 Tercero Syrah Larner Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Ynez Valley (1/17/2010)
14.2% alcohol. Wow, this is positively rocking. Youthful and structured, but it’s so open and delicious right now, it’s terrific. Nose of blueberry, blackberry, a touch of creamy oak, minerals, and a meaty edge. In the mouth, plush and plain delicious, cutting a terrific blue-fruited line across the tongue. Plenty of complexity and acidity. Beautifully refined tannins. A- -
2008 Tercero Grenache/Mourvedre Rose - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Barbara County (1/16/2010)
13.5% alcohol. This is a classy, light wine. Salmon color. Floral, fruity nose. Bright mouth feel and plenty of fruit on the palate. It’s complemented by some serious floral and mineral notes. Solid finish. Very tasty. B+
