TNs (via Zoom tasting): Rhys, Kutch, Thomas and a couple Brunellos

Paul, thanks for catching it, I fixed my original TN. The Fuligni was 2010.

At the very real risk of sounding like a John Thomas fanboy, apologist, and sycophant, the '12 Thomas changed every fifteen minutes and after three hours all signs of candied sweetness or stewed torrefaction completely disappeared and it is now apparent to me that this particular vintage of Thomas is simply in an awkward stage. Throughout it’s time tonight the nose remained compelling. All signs of premature browning became a healthy crimson red. This vintage is an enigma. There is room for hope My advice is to give it five more years.

Almost positive that the comment about vineyard/vine changes is misinformed. I believe some of the original vines (planted in the 80s) may have been replaced, but that was after 2012. 2012 was definitely a warm year, but I’m inclined to wait a few years before opening my ‘12s

Skyline, in my opinion, is the very best terroir at Rhys. It has the most potential. Most complexity. Best aromatics. Thanks for these notes.
