TNs: Two Whites- Pichler, Xarmant

Rudi Pichler Riesling Federspiel 2007:
Zesty lime and bits of herbs jump out first, but the balance of this wine is pure, zippy acid and snappy green apples. Really fresh and fun to drink. Had it on Sunday with some different preparations of Sushi grade tuna at home and it was really nice. When we brought the Flannery pork rib cap off the BGE (it was pretty heavily spiced) this wine really shined. 88+ points

Arabako Txakolina Xarmant 2007:
Golden straw colored with citrus zest/mineral notes on the nose. Actually, this was not very exciting. I was hoping for a little more zip and freshness and I have certainly had better Txakolinas this year. For the most part there were some citrus flavors and a little smoky elements but the finish was lacking and the wine seemed to lack real vigor and purpose. 86 points
