TNs: Two mo' from Pacherhof

Light yellow in the glass; nose is a little reticent on opening.

Strikes me right now as the lightest-bodied wine I’ve tried today; tart fruit on the palate, almost a “snappy” finish - not bad, and potentially better with food.

  • 2012 Pacherhof Sylvaner Alte Reben - Italy, Trentino-Alto Adige, Alto Adige, Valle Isarco / Eisacktaler (7/4/2014)
First time I’ve tried this vintage - I still have a bottle left of the 2011, and next time I try this I’ll do it side-by-side with that wine.

Light yellow in the glass; briny note to open on the nose, but otherwise not very giving right now.

More body here than with the Kerner, and still with that nice blend of sweet & sour white fruits on the palate. This is almost always my favorite wine from their line-up, and at least IMO, well worth the pricing differential.

A day 2 glass of the Sylvaner Alte Reben - and this has really come together overnight. The nose has fleshed out a little, but still features that briny note I mentioned yesterday.

But there is so much going on with the palate here - a very complex white wine, with almost a yin and yang on your palate as the sweet & sour tastes battle it out - excellent, no other way to describe this!

Bob,
Just opened and tasted the 2012 Pacherhof Sylvaner Alte Reben and tasted it prior to and during dinner with grilled chicken breast. I liked it very much. Found the palate to be beautifully complex with notes of pineapple stone fruits with a medium + body but yet sufficient acidity to carry everything going on with this delightful wine.
I tasted the basic Sylvaner recently which I also liked. As I recall it was a bit less complex on nose and palate and might have had a touch higher acidity level which was admirable.
Both excellent wines.
