TNs: Two delicious Holdredge wines

  • 2006 Holdredge Pinot Noir Bucher - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (12/2/2009)
    14.3% alcohol. Initially, quite funky on the nose. This blew off mostly over time but retained some. It was almost a Siduri-like note for its funk. Underneath, lovely layers of black cherry, flowers, and minerals. In the mouth, smooth and balanced, with terrific and pure fruit. Bright acidity. Long finish. This is elegant, balanced, and just so pure. Texturally very fine. A-
  • 2005 Holdredge Syrah Lovers Lane Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (11/27/2009)
    14.3% alcohol. Decanted. This is drinking beautifully. Sumptuous nose of black and blue fruit, meat, and spice. In the mouth, awesome purity and balance, with loads of fruit and good structure. No hard edges at all. Very caressing. Drinking well but will develop further complexity. A very strong effort. A-

Could not agree with you more on the Holdredge Bucher Tom…one of my favorites for the mixed-quality 06 vintage. Mine are already finished…no patience with this one whatsoever.
