TNs: Two Aldo Conterno '04s

I am super behind on my tasting notes but I have some time tonight so I thought I would get these up. I had every intention of tasting the Colonnello alongside these but just couldn’t make it happen. Oh well, I’ll try it soon.

Aldo Conterno Barolo 2004:
Incredibly aromatic nose, perfumed raspberries and brambly blackberries are accompanied by fresh flowers and drops of tar. These are meaty and chewy flavors that are succulent and dense. Time allows this wine to strut and when it does it really likes to show off. Anyone who purchases this will be handsomely rewarded in the future. 92 points

Aldo Conterno Barolo Romirasco 2004:
An impressive step up in density and power, but also finesse and promise. Velvety smooth fruit- tart cherries, red raspberries and roses petals. The supporting players are strong notes of smoke, pine comb sap, spice and scorched earth. Complex and delicious this wine will stand the test of time and reward long term cellaring- but I have to go on record and say that it was a damn fine drink that day! 96 points

I’m looking forward to trying that Romirasco. It’s rare that they bottle it separately.
