Bodegas Fernando Remirez de Ganuza Rioja 2003:
A nose that is a color combination on the Benjamin Moore paint wheel called Violet Squid Ink. Perfumed coconut, tart raspberries and spice erupt from the nose- the last time I had it (Fall last year) it was much more shy. Black cherry, smoke, sweet vanilla and those tart raspberries again, this time tossed in cracked pepper all mix together well to form the basis of an excellent wine. This is certainly outstanding for the vintage and one that will continue to age gracefully for a number of years. Its nice to find something from Europe from 2003 that is so tasty- I know, a silly, broad stroke, but I have been burned too much lately! 93 points
Adegas A Coroa Godello Valdeorras 2006:
A little more red apple than last time I had it but still a nice little drink. Mostly musky white peaches, lime zest, chalk and straw. Way less acid though, could be nearing the end. 88 points
Bodegas Fillaboa Albarino 2007:
In case you haven’t guessed we drink a lot of these types of wines during the summer. This one was tasty. Floral and creamy, with scents of lemon and apple being the most prevalent. Hanging around, in the background, are notes of tropical fruit, smoke and pineapple jam. Some mineral and acid, but not overly complex. 89 points
