2005 Loring Wine Company Pinot Noir Cargasacchi Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Rita Hills - Sta. Rita Hills (10/25/2009)
13.7% alcohol. Perhaps the best of this string of Loring 2005s. Also drinking beautifully, it has a cherry color and a terrific bouquet of black cherry, blackberry, spice, earthy complexity, and flowers. In the mouth, racy but still texturally plush. Cuts a beautiful path of fruit across the tongue, with outstanding complexity. Bright acidity and a long, juicy finish. This is beautifully put together. One of my favorite wines from this vineyard ever. A-/A -
2005 Loring Wine Company Pinot Noir Russell Family Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles (10/25/2009)
14.9% alcohol. This is drinking at its peak. Red/purple color. Aromatic, sappy nose of blackberry and plum with an edge of cherry. Straightforward but very pure fruit. Balanced and velvety in the mouth. A real pleasure. A- -
2005 Loring Wine Company Pinot Noir Clos Pepe Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Rita Hills - Sta. Rita Hills (10/24/2009)
14.1% alcohol. This has gotten even more velvety and pleasurable with another several months in bottle. Beautiful nose of black cherry, blackberry, and plum, with a deep earthy note and minerality. In the mouth, it just caresses the palate with such terrific texture and juicy fruit. Nice spike of acidity and a long finish. This is just terrific and drinkable. A-
