2006 Carlisle Syrah Cardiac Hill - USA, California, Sonoma County, Bennett Valley (10/25/2009)
15.8% alcohol. Decanted. Still youthful and tight. Deep purple-tinged color. Beautiful, powerful bouquet of blue and black fruit, with intense floral and meaty notes. In the mouth, brawny and packed with blue and black fruit. Terrific complexity and structure, which really kicks in with the acidity and strong tannins. A nice peppery note comes in on the palate, too. A- -
2007 Carlisle Syrah Dry Creek Valley - USA, California, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley (10/23/2009)
14.5% alcohol. Decanted. Dark purple color. Gorgeous, meaty nose of creamy blue and black fruits. In the mouth, substantial, with loads of fruit but brilliant complexity and focus. Strong acidity and a tannic finish. A bit on the young side, but all the parts are there. A- -
2006 Carlisle Syrah Sonoma County - USA, California, Sonoma County (10/22/2009)
15.1% alcohol. Like the previous recent bottle. This is still a touch brawny, but it is delicious and very drinkable. A-
