TNs: Tasty Pinots

  • 2006 Zepaltas Pinot Noir Suacci - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (2/9/2010)
14.0% alcohol. Just in such a good place right now. Dark cherry color. Beautiful nose of sappy black cherry and baking spice. In the mouth, a textural delight, with juicy fruit, bright acidity, and a very strong finish that picks up a slightly chalky note. Terrific wine. A-
  • 2005 Dehlinger Pinot Noir Goldridge - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (2/6/2010)
14.5% alcohol. Drinking very well right now. Bright cherry color. Fragrant nose of slightly jammy red cherry, baking spice, and minerals. In the mouth, a luscious texture that coats the mouth beautifully with red cherry, blackberry, floral, and spice notes. Strong acidity, with a long, lingering finish. This is just lovely and refined. The spice component is noticeably pronounced. A-
  • 2007 WesMar Pinot Noir Sur Lees Sonoma County - USA, California, Sonoma County (2/6/2010)
This is very tasty and drinking quite well. Dusty black cherry color. Awesome aromatics coming out of the glass from the get-go, black cherry, cherry pie, and baking spice. In the mouth, plush and elegant, with gorgeous texture and a real sense of restraint. The cherry pie note is endearing, with plenty of spice and acidity to back it up. Solid finish. A-
  • 2002 Arcadian Pinot Noir Sleepy Hollow Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands (2/4/2010)
This is positively killing now. Elegant red cherry color. Lustrous texture in the glass. Beautiful nose of red cherry, flowers, spice, earth, and a touch of orange peel. In the mouth, focused, linear, and bursting with fruit. The cherry notes are bolstered by exceptional complexity and a bright acidic streak. Long finish goes on comfortably. A marvelous wine in a great place right now. A-/A

Thanks for the notes, Tom. For some reason, probably because of where I have them stored in the cellar, I just never think of opening my Zepaltas Pinots. I have to remedy that and the 2006 Suacci sounds like a good place to start.
