TNs: Sunday night with mostly Inman Family

  • 2005 Siduri Pinot Noir Russian River Valley - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (8/23/2009)
14.1% alcohol. Popped and poured. Black cherry color. Lovely nose of funk, black cherry, baking spice, and minerals. In the mouth, beautifully refined and balanced. Full of juicy black cherry fruit. Excellent mouth feel. The complexity really sings. This is tremendous for an appellation wine. The long finish sets it apart. A-
  • 2006 Inman Family Pinot Noir - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (8/23/2009)
14.1% alcohol. Opened three hours before serving but not decanted. Initially tight and a touch grapey. With air, this shows beautifully. Black cherry color. Lovely nose of black cherry, flowers, minerals, and spice. In the mouth, structured but eminently approachable. Bursting with red and black cherry fruit, spice, flowers, and minerals. A bright but refined streak of acidity. Long finish has a slight hint of oak. Lovely and drinking very well. A-
  • 2007 C. Donatiello Winery Chardonnay Christie Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (8/23/2009)
14.5% alcohol. Light straw color. Beautiful nose of apple, a touch of creamy oak, minerals, and a note of citrus. In the mouth, much more linear than the nose betrays. This must be a result of the neutral oak. Terrific palate, crisp and refreshing, packed with fruit, and showing a bright sensibility. Long finish. A-
  • 2008 Inman Family Pinot Gris - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (8/23/2009)
14.1% alcohol. This has really become more aromatic. More of a citrus edge to the fruit, and the stony minerality is just delightful. More of a plush mouth feel than in less ripe years. Delicious. A-
  • 2008 Inman Family Pinot Noir Rosé “Endless Crush” Olivet Grange Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (8/23/2009)
14.5% alcohol. This also is opening up very well. Certainly at its peak and very good. Dried cherry, watermelon, and strawberry on the nose. Smooth and tasty on the palate, with a good hit of acidity coming through the fruit, which also has a slight floral edge. Solid finish. A-
