TNs: SQN In Flagrante, Ken Wright Freedom Hill '06

Ken Wright Cellars Pinot Noir Freedom Hill Vineyard 2006:
A sort of fleshy nose, packed with good raw materials, mostly berry fruit, but there is a sense of citrus peel and truffle in the aromatics as well. This is a medium bodied Pinot with less expressive fruit than I would like and less complexity than I had hoped for. Really the only thing going for this wine right now is how smooth the fruit is. Otherwise it is basically a one-trick pony. 86 points

Sine Qua Non In Flagrante 2000:
Certainly a powerful wine. Lots of black fruits, vanilla and spice dominate the nose- and so does a bit of alcohol, though it was nothing alarming. The wine is a combination of super concentrated blackberries and black plums, vanilla/coconut, smoked bacon and wet rocks/earth. Not my favorite SQN by any stretch and not the best showing of this wine I have had, but not bad. I am afraid this style of wine is beginning to be lost on me. 90 points
