Ludwig Hiedler Gruner Veltliner Loess 2007:
This is a perfect wine for the weather here in Atlanta right now- bright, expressive, refreshing and crisp. Full of sprigs of lime zest and others bits of citrus, meaty bits of yellow plum and a touch of background smoke. Adding to the complexity are scents of snap peas and saline goodness. And, for extra pleasure, probably should go for another few years no problem! 90+ points

The nose smells a little like a roasted pear surrounded by fresh flowers and then dripped with honey. Tasting the wine all of those flavors are again apparent, though toss in some peach, smoked peas and white pepper for fun. Seems to be in a really good place right now, though I am not convinced it will really get much better. The finished ends a bit like an apple or pear tart that has been done on a BGE and finished with some kind of smokey herbs . . . though it is somehow still rich and creamy in the middle the end is such a counter point. I think I like the '07 better as a complete wine but this is a nice wine for now. 89 points

This is a nice, focused wine that is full of fresh, developed red berry flavors- mostly raspberries but with some blackberry and plum as well. There is a bit of bramble and sap, with some herbs and spice hanging about but they have faded since the last time I tasted this wine. Still seems to be drinking nicely though I wonder about the development of this wine- mostly because I have little experience aging these wines. 86 points
