Ahhh yeah…this is why I like SQN so much. Every time its a different experience. This is like a young Brazilian carnival girl…all dark, brooding, mysterious and sexy as all hell. The nose is big and full of tar, spices, a whiff of citrus, black and blue berries. Full thick palate with dark fruits and a little smoke. Thick and smooth, not chewy at all. Relatively sweet and well composed. Im glad I have several left because I see this going the way of The Other Hand and gaining changing complexities…It was only opend for a few hours and I drank about half of the bottle over 2 more hours…towards the end it was showing some new notes of leather and cinnamon…
The Broken Stones is a little confusing. Huge warm nose with raspberries and blackberries. Some baking spice and a hint of menthol, which was the first confusing thing because it feels warm but theres also menthol (newports? A bit of oak and at times I could smell some lemon rind. I know the combo sounds weird and I dont usually go that specifically into descriptors but these were very distinct. Then the palate. Certainly some oak, more blueberries than red. A little charcoal smoke. Another puzzling thing was that every once in a while I would get this blast of Rocket Block grenache. I dont know if it was RB that went into this particular blend, but 05 RB is my favorite grenache ever and Ill be damned if every so often this didnt remind me of that. Just a bit of heat and a bit of tannin. I think that as this settles and harmonizes it will be awesome. Aint dumping the rest though
