2006 Domaine Ramonet Chassagne-Montrachet Ruchottes 1er
This is ripe and showing an amalgam of grilled nuts and buttered toast with an oxidative inflection on the finish. It does have a firmish acid finish, but my feeling is that it’s on teh slide and needs to be drunk.
2007 Telmo Rodriguez Lanzaga Rioja
Quite a broad shouldered, modern styled Tempranillo with an abundance of fruit and well handled oak. Still a little firm and bright and will benefit from another couple of years cellaring.
2008 Claonakilla Shiraz Viognier
This is a beautifully proportioned wine that oozes class. There’s plenty of juicy fruit, counterbalanced by savoury nuance and gossamer tannins that make it a delicious drink today, albeit a very primary one. Justifies its reputation of being one of Australia’s very best Shirraz from the emerging Canberra region.
