TNs--Mike on Tour--East Coast---Thanksgiving with Nick Christie and family

I do give thanks that my close friend Nick is a part of my life. He generously invited me to join Lan, Alexander and his parents for Thanksgiving lunch. It was a lovely visit and we opened some good stuff. No formal notes, these are more impressions

Mouzon-Leroux L’Incandescent Champagne was sparkly and zippy, with presence and red-fruited presentation. Liked this.

2000 Chateau Lanessan showed very well, decanted for a couple hours. Classic Bordeaux, with nicely refined tannins now and traces of sweetness and spice. It was a pleasure to drink.

1985 Dow VP was very nut-centric on the nose. In the mouth, it gave me a sense of being a more complex ruby port. Went well with the blue cheese.

Best of all was to spend time with Nick and Lan and their adorable son. So happy I get to do this.

cheers,

Mike

First of All: Open Invitation .

Second of all, I could have sworn you specifically told me last time I wrote you that your next potential visit was February

Mike was amazing with my 90-year-old father . We slummed it on Champagne because my dad is embarrassed drinking high end stuff (true story). But we had charming Claret & Port.

My Palate was shaped by Claret & Vintage Port, as that’s what my father bought for his family in my youth. So this was a Traditional Thanksgiving, albeit moving to 2000 now as opposed to 1982.
