TN's: Mature Wines From Various Regions

Todd, in the last year I’ve had a mindblowing 71 and an excellent 61. True, along with those good experiences I’ve had a number of unimpressive (sorry, I mean they sucked) bottles of old Monfortino including the 52 55 and 58 we recently shared. Notwithstanding that there’s a widespread problem of provenance with great old wines generally (remember that Ray opened two unimpressive 64 DPs at our dinner–which means that, like A-Rod until recently, he’s still stuck at having drunk only 599 good ones), I think I’d agree that old Monfortinos have a high failure rate.

So having said that, let’s do a birthyear themed dinner. I’ll bring 52 and 64 Monfortinos and hope for the best. Ray will bring 52 Moet and the 64 DP (maybe he’ll get his 600th that nite). You’ll have to take care of the 69s–I strongly suggest Rousseau!
