JUNE 2009 MICHAEL SKURNIK WINE EVENT, NEW YORK - Tribeca Grill, NY (6/23/2009)
The standouts for me were undoubtedly the Selbach Oster Anrecht and the Mauro VS 02 and Terreus 03 and 04. That said, most of these are special wines, quite big, powerful and expensive. For everyday drinking I really enjoyed the Selbach Oster halbtrocken and the Torre Albéniz Reserva. The 02 Mauro VS also had a wonderful blend of modern and old. While it wasn’t quite as explosive as the 03 Terreus, it is potentially a better wine, and at any rate I imagine better company for food, at least for those who do enjoy modern styled wines.
