We went over to a friends house last night for dinner so I grabbed a mixed bag of wines to see what they were all about.
2007 Pierre Gaillard Condrieu - Straw color with honey, pear, citrus, apricot, and blood orange on the nose. Pretty expressive with a full body, seamless and round with white pepper on the finish with a touch of alcohol. very good and everyone enjoyed this.
2002 Shaw Pinot Noir - We picked this up at the winery in the Finger Lakes this past summer. Light color but rather intense aromas os smoke, raspberry, and earthy notes. cranberry and spices on the palate with a long finish. Showing very well and probably the best Pinot from the East Coast I can recall having.
2004 Bargetto Family La Vita - I got this bottle for free as part of my payment for doing a wine judging. We all got to choose from the unopened leftovers. I grabbed this because who doesn’t need a Dolcetto/Refosco/Nebbiolo blend from the Santa Cruz Mts. in their cellar? This suprised everyone. Violets and cherries on the nose. Huge wine with black cherry notes on the palate. Huge finish with nice acid. Pretty good. anyone know anything about these guys?
1995 Domaine du Mas Blanc Banyuls Cuvee Special - A nice way to finish the evening. Fudge, caramel, blackberry liquor on the nose. It was like drinking liquid chololate, just velvety and smooth with dark berry and pepper flavors. Alcohol was sticking out a little bit too much, but that is nitpicking. Very nice bottle.
