TNs: French Whites- Dagueneau, Fichet, Bossard, etc.

Didier Dagueneau Blanc Fume de Pouilly Buisson Renard 2005:
Got to drink this over two days. I am glad I did too, because what I had the first night I can barely recall (a little too much imbibing I think!). This has one of the most wild and zingy noses on a Dagueneau I can recall, full of smoke, flint and citrus zest and all of it pungent and popping! The wine is precise and intense too. Loads of acidity, salinity and chalkiness really show off the complexity. To say I dug it is an understatement but, to say it was a super-genius wine might be going too far. Sometimes a wine like this just hits you right. I just don’t want to make too much more of it than that. 91 points

Domaine Jean Philippe Fichet Meursault Les Tessons 2007:
Sort of pale green in color at first but put on a little straw color with some time in the glass. A lot of young oak on the nose but there is also a lot of citrus that wants to come out underneath it. Small bits of white flowers and anise are hard to detect but they appear with some coaxing. Good minerality and stoney purity, should turn out to be a nice wine. First real experience with these guys. Interested in hearing what peoples’ perception of Fichet is. 90 points

Domaine de l’Ecu/Guy Bossard Muscadet Sevre et Maine Expression de Gneiss 2006:
Lime zest and grapefruit, with some peach nectar make up the nose. The body is a combination of minced peach and apricot chunks blended with a healthy dose of minerals, a shot glass of gunpowder and chalk. Overall this wine has good viscosity. 90 points

Meyer-Fonne Pinot Gris Hinterburg de Katzenthal Cuvee Eloi 2004:
Something was wrong with this bottle. Unfortunate because this should be excellent.

Had some really good 04 Fichets…I like the producer for sure.
