TNs: Four Wines

Conterno Fantino Barolo Sori Ginestra 2003 (375):
Smells of ripe strawberries, fresh flowers and smoked herbs. The core of this wine is made up of dark black fruits- think plums, cherries and blackberries- along with coffee grounds, dark chocolate shavings and vanilla-ish oak. A nice rim of floral (violets?) notes creeps in here and there, as does some grilled meats/herbs and some pipe smoke. Really a nice wine but, even in this format, still not giving its all. I like it . . . but I’ll let the rest of mine hang out for a while, even the little guys! 92 points

Kistler Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2005:
Nice, bright fruit flavors waft off glass as the wine is poured. Red cherry, plum, some anise, a touch of cedar and cinnamon. Completely developed and ready to go. Nothing overly exciting but certainly enjoyable. If you still have these I say drink up as I doubt they will improve. 88 points

Bodegas Y Vinedos O Fournier Urban Eco Sauvignon Blanc 2007:
Straw colored with a greenish tint. Tangy and crisp, grapefruit, kiwi, lime zest and waxy beans form the bulk of the flavor profile. There are some signs of minerals lurking about. Not complex in the least. But definitely thirst quenching. 85 points

Pierre Peters Brut Cuvee Reserve NV (375):
Focused and delicate, with excellent texture and purity. Slightly toasty and buttery, bits of green and floral notes . . . background aromas like that of a wheat beer (witbier). Fruit is not at the forefront. Some citrus peel, nothing over-powering or complex. 88 points
