2003 Château Pontet-Canet - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac (6/26/2009)
This wine was tasted in double-blind fashion, brought by the same person who donated the 10/13/06 bottle. The wine remains very “primary” and is little changed from 10/13/06. The good thing is that it has, as of this date, not shut down. I liked it better before, but it is still quite nice albeit atypical. Drink 1/12-12/20. (90 pts.) -
2003 Château Pontet-Canet - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac (10/13/2006)
Tasted in double-blind fashion at Vintage Wines, Ltd. Bottle provided by Tim Ryan. Bright disc. Opaque ruby robe with red rim. Clean, moderately intense nose showing black currants, vanilla and coffee. Full-bodied on the palate, with low-to-medium acidiity. The flavors are dominated by black fruit, vanilla and oak. Long, slightly dry finish. This is a very nice Pauillac which will benefit from at least 7-10 more years of cellaring. (92 pts.)
