TNs: Evesham Wood

Two recent releases from my favorite Oregon producer . . .

2007 EW Pinot Noir Le Puit Sec:

Rich nose of brambly fruit, wonderfully balanced palate with red fruit, a tiny kiss of oak, and brisk acidity leading to a satisfying and lengthy finish. This is a pleasurable wine now and appears to have the structure and fruit to go for the long term.

2008 EW Pinot Noir Willamette Valley:

The basic bottling from EW and this one is the best version since 2005 based on my initial try. Not overwhelmingly complex but a great expression of what WV Pinot should be and as good as bottles 2x the price. The pretty fruit of 2006 combined with the more nuanced structure of 2007 = best of both worlds for this bottling. Highly recommended if you can still find some around.

I tasted this a few weeks ago at my local store, and bought all she had, The EW base wine 2008. It had been opened for a day and was really beginning to show it’s stuff. We opened another at work a week or so ago, and yes, if you can find it, run don’t walk. I think I paid all of $17.99
Russ is doing great things.
