Had a nice couple of '07’s this week from two of my favorite producers.
2007 Schafer-Frohlich Halbtrocken - This is always astonishingly great every year. The '07 is no exception. Clean, pure and clear as a sunny day in Bockeneau. Lovely stone fruits, a kiss of sugar for texture, crisp acidity yet a playful juiciness make this almost the perfect halbtrocken.
2007 Emrich-Schonleber Riesling Trocken “Mineral” - I have had this many times since release and this was by far the best showing. It can be a touch austere but has finally filled in and has great fruit to balance all that acid and mineral. Still a dry wine but a bit more accessible. The fruit is all pith but even as this warmed up it remained in great balance as sometimes these trockens warm up and get all hot and out of balance.
