TNs: Clerc Milon '03, Kongsgaard Chard '03

Kongsgaard Chardonnay 2003:
Golden straw in color, with an opulent, round nose. Exotic melons, coconut and other spicy fruits jump from the nose. Floral and smokey on the first sip, with droplets of buttered popcorn and meaty nectarine flavors fused together. This wine is nice, but, for lack of a better word, obvious. After a glass you feel the wine might be compelling but as you dive into glass two your palate begins to become bored. There is no more enticement . . . no more sexiness. Just obviousness. Decent, but not what I hoped for. 89 points

Clerc Milon 2003:
Good ruby/purple coloring. A nose of cranberry, cigar box, new oak and licorice. There is a touch of raisiny fruit on the palate- a tell-tale sign of an '03 for me- but it is not too much. There is also some background smoked meats, dried herbs, tea leaves and ground dark chocolate. I like this wine but it almost falls into the category of '03s I am on the fence on right now. Overall a decent drink but don’t pay too much for it. 90 points
