2005 Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Central Coast - USA, California, Central Coast (11/10/2009)
13.9% alcohol. Pretty red color. Aromatic nose of black cherry, spice, and minerals. In the mouth, racy and full of black cherry fruit. The earth and minerals add a nice touch, but there is a small hole in the center palate, just before the acidity kicks in. Strong finish. This needs some more time in the bottle. B+ -

In the mouth, pretty and balanced, with loads of fruit and a touch of earth and spice. Good acidity. Long finish that really helps this wine shine. A- -

2005 Landmark Pinot Noir Kanzler Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (11/6/2009)
14.6% alcohol. Dark cherry color. Rich but balanced and delightful. Dark nose of vanilla, black cherry, blackberry, earth, and a touch of baking spice. In the mouth, plush and rich, with terrific mouth feel and plenty of slightly sweet, dark Pinot fruit to it. Good complexity and strong acidity. Long finish with no heat. A-
