We had a nice little horizontal of 1999 Meursaults the other night.
The style is hands off. No oak noticable. Very pure and crystalline.
No stylizing here.
All three were distinctly different.
1999 Jadot Meursault Charmes
A nice nose of very light golden fruit and minerals. Some floral component.
The palate is a little simple at first but there is significant material here with fabulous minerals.
This is very good.
1999 Jadot Meursault Genevrieres
More intensity of fruit on the nose. Light golden type fruit. The minerality is still here. The palate is fabulous with a big mouth feel.
Great finish of white fruit and minerals. Intense and lingering. Excellent.
1999 Jadot Meursault Perrieres
A little funk blows off quickly. For the first hour this is rather closed. It then unwinds with an almost sea like salinity on the nose.
The palate is huge and shows off more minerals than fruit. A lingering finish that shows a need for time here. This will be stunning.
They all are excellent. To me they show the essence of their terroirs more than a winemakers signature.
Bravo Jacques.
