TNs a few notes with Loring, QC red, KL, Clio,, mostly so so.

2007 Loring Clos Pepe
I was unimpressed the first time around, but this time…great nose of vanilla and sweet cherries. The palate is loaded with sweet fruit, but its not jammy…it stays crisp with a lot of fruity acidity. Clean. There is a slight greeness to it that usually I mind but the intensity is such that the greeness ends up making it complex. Hard to explain but I love this wine. Want to just keep drinking it.

2004 Tablas Creek EDB
Nice oaky fruit, thick, chewy palate. Meh good, very good for the price, but not exciting.

2006 Karl Lawrence Cab
Third time with this, third time dissapointed. Greenish, muted, a little bitter. After 6 hours of air the fruit turns a bit sweeter, but still. Meh. I think I might be done with KL.

2005 El Nido Clio
Big, sweet chocolate nose. A little booze in the palate with chocolate, cherries, and some oak. Big and thick. Right in my wheelhouse but a notch below the intensity of the big brother.

2005 Two Hands Bellas
This is an Aussie that is still kicking ass. Bright red in the glass and on the palate. Lots of intense red fruit in the nose and mouth with clean acidity and a great mouth feel. Some baking spices and slgith oak. No heat. Long finish. Awesome.

2004 QC red wine
Very European nose with earth, mushrooms, and some clove. Medium weight palate with more earth tones and some cassis. Somewhat clipped finish. Odd wine, I dont remember a QC like this.

Souinds kind of similar to the 2005 that I had a year ago. I chalked it up to being too young for consumption, as it seemed like there were flavors that wanted to come out but were too tightly wound up and hidden by the tannins. I decided to let my remaining bottles sit for a long time.

The 2005 that I had a couple of weeks ago was on the cusp of being undrinkable.

how so?

The '06 KL seems to get a lot of grief here. I havent popped my yet, but I dont expect much. I will take a risk on the '07s given the track record though.

I’m not sure the El Nido is worth the extra $$$… but every time I open a Clio, I find myself wanting the extra punch and depth of the El Nido. Oh well.

I’m glad the 07 Clos Pepe has come around for you. [dance-clap.gif] Wait 'til you try the 08s… all bigger, plusher, tastier. If our 07s are Clios, then our 08s are El Nidos [berserker.gif]

Syrupy and gloopy mess that had a harsh, metallic taste to it.

Brian…big time DROOL
Tex…I had one like that might have been an 05. But then I had a good one of whatever the year was…The metallic taste is what Im talking about.

For some reason 2006 is not a good year for the Napa bottling of KL.
Not sure I would give up just yet though if I were you. See what the 07s are like. All you need is one…

If they suck then, I will give up with you…

I gave most of my '06 KLs to my son.

I LIKE my daughter… [diablo.gif]
