2016 Somnino Brunello di Montalcino
Decanted for 4 hours. I’ve been..um…good and have resisted opening a 16 for over a year. The decanting was quite helpful, and this showed fine red plum and berry fruit accented by cocoa and very slight baking spice. It had something in the combination of flavour and texture that said “Brunello” to me. Quite excellent and enjoyed by all at the party I poured it for
2010 Segla
Slow-oxed for 5 hours. Very nice Margaux nose, emphasizing florals and wisps of strawberry around raspberry and currant fruit. Palate is actually a touch sedate, doesn’t scream Bordeaux but definitely of a fine and lithe shape. Nice wine here too.
