TN's: 2006 & 2007 Domaine Jean-Louis Tribouley Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes Orchis

I took these to Todd’s when we hung out with Josh Pitcl and various OC crew. I took the remains home and checked them out over a few days. The 06 whowed better that night and a couple days later. Both are terrific wines for the money though this bottle has gone from $17 in 05 to $25 in 07. The ripeness that came out after a couple days on the 07 which was a bit worrisome.

The fruit seems to be relaxing some letting the secondary notes show themselves. Dark rocky and burnt brush well concentrated core that let’s some brightly sweet fruits peak out towards the finish and notes of flowers on the nose. Good length and balance. Terrific and in need of a couple more years in bottle to show it’s best.

More of a tight tannic beast than the 06 on the night this really took a few days to start opening up properly. Intense ripe baked fruits emerge with notes of flowers. Still tannic four nights later though the fruit is lively on the palate giving up some dark rockiness and sweet concentrated berries. Good edges with the finish coming to a point and no softness over the middle. This needs time but very good potential.
