I am not a big fan of New World wines though I keep buying variations in hopes of finding interesting expressions. I know it is going to take years, but eventually producers will figure out what some of these places mean in vinous terms. One place that has really fascinated me has been the Gimblett Gravels area of NZ. From the shelves, I find very little here in OH. This was the first one I found and I really enjoyed it. About a year after my first bottle, Whole Foods liquidated them at a nice discount. I am glad I scooped up this wine as it has never failed to please and my wife really enjoyed it as well. Considering that I find 3 yr old Aussies to be unraveling, I am also impressed with the intensity of primary character this wine is still show at 7 yrs.
I figured after three consistent tastings over 1.5 yrs, it was worth posting.

Drank over 3 days. Consistent with previous with a savory fruit danish aspect and nice balance. Interestingly, the Malbec aspect appeared to shine through with time. I really like the facets this wine has. -

Enjoyed this even more than the bottle of a year ago. Deep and dark fruit with an unravelling complexity that rewarded over two days. -

Purpley colour. Nice nose with fruit and fruit danish. Good body with a light structure, persistent acidity and a fleshy texture. A bit of grip. Medium finish with more dark fruits and a bit of wood. Restrained and slowly revealing. Very nice.
