Here are two rock solid wines for less than 30 bucks each. Yes, the Michel I paid exactly 30 for and the Siduri was brought over to the house yesterday and the CT price shows about 29, so I suspect it has to be closer to 27 without it. Both wines kick ass in that they reflect some edges, nuance and something to enjoy without dumping your wallet upside down. FWIW, I know the Michel is made with zero oak and it drinks very clean and pure. The Siduri is in twist cap and shows some nice sauvage quality that is really engaging. Really dug them both, thought I’d share it with y’all. Thanks for reading.

2007 Siduri Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (3/14/2011)
Opened yesterday. Hints of smoke on the nose, along with some pinot funk–both are subtle. This wine has a nice palate, with good definition of flavor that shows plum, dark cherry and a smoky, sauvage quality, almost gamey, along with red apple and orange rind/zest. This would be a great wine to showcase new folks into how CA pinot can exhibit a broad range of flavor and depth for a great price. Delicious. -
2008 Domaine Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux Vieilles Vignes - France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru (3/14/2011)
Opened yesterday over lunch, enjoying tonight with homemade chicken pot pie and sauteed swiss chard. This is a nice wine, one of the better of Michel’s 2008s and I have drank nearly all of them to this point. Green apple, zesty lemon rind, some flint and bit of a stony finish with good texture. Has really superb acidity, balance and chablis-like texture as it finishes with a cool sea shell note and the brisk apple and lemony zest. Should have bought a few extra.
