Other than restaurant wine list purchases, I will be sitting '07 out. It is not a bad vintage, but I can’t see a reason to put them in the cellar. Meanwhile, the good '06s are really good.
’06 Louis Boillot Nuits St Georges Pruliers-
Gorgeous nose of fresh, crushed red raspberries with minerals and salts. With its beautiful balance, freshness and pure middleweight fruit, this is '06 at its best. I love the precise fresh fruit. This is so pretty, pure and graceful with a nice complex mineral finish. Love it.
’07 Pousse D’Or Volnay Caillerets Soixante Ouvrees-
Complex and floral nose with rocks, minerals and a bit of tar. This is pure and lightweight on the palate with excellent complexity but modest depth and length. This is very nice and 2000-like in character.
’07 Dujac Clos St. Denis-
Nice, complex nose of stems and toast (or is it pain grille?). Very light in color and very light on the palate. This lacks depth but offers nice slightly stemmy complexity on the finish. It is not bad but not nearly as good as the 2000 or 1997. I thought I made a good purchase at $150, but this is not close to meriting that price. Disappointing.
