I tasted both tonight.
Both are very “Chambolle”.
More fruit in the Drouhin.
More finesse despite being very tight in the Mugnier.
I am under the spell of a couple of recordings from 1962 and 1964 on DVD tonight.
1962 Count Basie in Sweden… holy cow. This is sublime.
Sonny Payne rocks.
1964 Dexter Gordon in Sweden also. Stockholm. With a bunch of Swedish sidemen. Amazing.
The wines are all about young Chambolle fruits. Very red fruit.
Bright and sexy.
The Mugnier is very tight with an almost slate like minerality.
Very crunchy red fruit.
The Drouhin on the other hand is sexy young pinot. Bright.
Floral.
I love Chambolle. What can I say?
Not a bad night after 24 hours on call on Christmas.
Hanging with the family.
I wish all a Happy New Year.
