TNs: 05 Seasmoke and 2000 Jordan

2000 Jordan. I went in the cellar to get the Seasmoke. Ran into the Jordan, dont know how it got there, must have bought a mini vert years ago, not in my tracking software. Also found 01 and 02 go figure. Anyway, smells like a cab, cranberries and currants. Not much else. The palate is medium to light bodied with some light fruits. Still some tannins that will surely outlive the little fruit left.
2005 Sea Smoke Southing
This is usually one of my three favorite PNs ever. This night it was good, not exceptional. The nose is big, with dark, sometimes roasted fruits. The palate is full bodied but not necessarily mouth coating. What I usually find stunning about this wine is precisely that. The palate is typically gigantic and mouth coating. Something was missing tonight. Long, sweet finish with a little alcohol. Like I said, good, not exceptional.

A Jordan…in your cellar? WTF?

That isn’t a over the top, extracted & massive wine. Must have been a gift.

Like I said, I didnt know it was there and look who’s talking! The only guy with similar alcohol per volume in his cellar in all of Berserkers. I think Im going to regift the 01 and 02 hehehe

Fair enough.

Did I mention I love Pavie? I wanna be like you Bill!

Tomorrow night should be '99 Pavie, '01 Pavie Decesse and '04 Pavie, along with other goodies.

Sweet. Jealous.

It won’t suck. Also having a trio of Flannery steaks. Should be a decent Saturday dinner. [berserker.gif]

Humberto,

I’ve found variance in '05 Southing as well. One bottle was absolutely fantastic, the other, just a few nights ago (not stored as well), was not terribly great, but was still enjoyable. I had preferred the '05 Chasseur Blank Vineyard Pinot Noir, but the others preferred the Southing that evening. Previous bottles were not as great either, but those were some time back. I think there is quite a bit of variance in this wine, oddly enough.

I only have 2 and the mag left…I think Ive drank about 7-8 of them. This is the first one that wasnt up to snuff. Poppy says that they should sit for a long time, but I loved the 05 right out of the gate.

But what does Poppy know??? (heh heh heh)

Seriously. Heh. I dont think Ive seen her post here…too bad, I like Poppy.

She’s here plenty - she won the ‘guess when we’ll get our 1000th member’ contest and she chose my avatar, which you see here.

Oh cool!
ha! great avatar, though my favorite one ever of yours was OMG it spins! Made me crack up every time I signed on.

I’m quite partial to the ‘welcome to toddland’ one, but perhaps I’ll bring this one back just for you…

Coffe just came out of my nose…should be wine… I just had to be on call today… [beatoff.gif]

I’m here! Glad to see you made it over here, Berto! I’m recovering from back surgery and I can’t drink for awhile, so I’m not spending much time in Wine Talk. Hopefully in another few weeks or so I’ll be able to add some tasting notes.

As far as the '05 Southings… I haven’t had very many of them, as they are tucked away deep in my locker. I’m still drinking '01s and '02s which are still drinking extremely well.

POPPY! get well soon. I think you need to fire that surgeon…I can give you a doctor’s note…nothing goes better together than Seasmoke and Vicodin.

nothing goes better together than Seasmoke and Vicodin

Might explain some of the supposed bottle variation!! [rolleyes.gif]

Interesting comments on the 2000 Jordan. Two years later, that vintage has been selected to sample during the winery’s daily seated tastings due to how well it’s showing now.

Cheers,
Lisa
