A couple of great '05s here.
’05 Burguet Chambolle Musigny Chardannes AOC-
Terrific earthy aromatics. On the palate this has fantastic meaty and sappy fruit. This meaty earthiness screams “Gevrey” and it takes some real inspection to find the Chambolle-ness. It shows up on the finish with some great rocky finesse. Overall this is quite pure and more than outstanding for a village wine.
’05 Fourrier Gevrey Chambertin Champeaux-
I love the nose of rocks and freshly turned earth. The wines from the combe above Gevrey can be so detailed and minerally. I love that discrete rockiness and this has it in spades. Wrapped by the fantastic sappy fresh fruit of the vintage, this is the real deal. Intense, earthy, detailed and pure…this is awesome. IMO it is baby brother of CSJ and great stuff!
Fourrier
Mmmm
“This Post Is Making Me Thirsty!”
And 10 points if anyone can tell me where that quote (words changed to fit the situation) comes from?
“These pretzels are making me thirsty!” (Seinfeld). Instead of 10 points, I’ll take a bottle of Fourrier…
Have you had any of the other Fourriers from 05 lately?
Ian,
I opened a CSJ a couple of months ago. That was baby-killing to be sure, but it was great.
Thanks Kevin, I have a few of these and it’s going to be difficult to keep my hands off them.
Have you tried Fourrier’s '05 village Gevrey? I am picking up a few next week… most of the notes I have read say to wait a few years.

Yes, I thought it was really good. I think all of the Fourrier '05s can use 10 years or so. This is true for most '05 Burgs but I still can’t resist opening them. I really enjoy drikning young Burgundies while some people might find them a bit too youthful and tannic.
