Opened these all last night. The Girardin was a really compelling bottle of wine and the class of the night, for my tastes at least. I don’t think I’ll open any other 02 Fourriers anytime soon based on this village wine, and I think I’ll be opening my other few 01 Fourriers sooner rather than later as many of these bottles seem to be falling off the VA cliff ![]()

2004 Vincent Girardin Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru (9/18/2009)
Explosive pungent Meursault character with great precision and cut. Showing neither the overt oak nor muddled midpalate that some Girardin wines do, this was broad and effusive with pungent, smokey Meursault character combined with popcorn, lemon peel and flinty earth. Great energy and great balance, really powerful and long, an excellent wine and an excellent value as well. -
2001 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Champeaux - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru (9/18/2009)
Quite marred by VA. Hard and shrill with a prickly palate. Pickles and shoe lacquer are not what I look for in Gevrey ;( -
2002 Domaine Fourrier Chambolle-Musigny - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny (9/18/2009)
Sappy and charming if simple with red fruit, sweet earth and a bit of spice. However on the palate acid dominated structure is somewhat in the foreground, even after the bottle has been open 3-4 hrs. Give this several more years, it needs to rest still.
