Had these over the last year; I know they’re not the best vintages for this wine. Both interesting and good, but not for the QPR.
2002 Azienda Agricola Montevertine Toscana IGT- Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT (9/1/2008)
Light garnet color, a bit orange around the rim. Nose of tart red plum and dusty earth with some herbal, cocoa and violet notes. Silky on the palate with medium body, but delicate flavors, almost Burgundian; a bit odd for a Sangiovese blend. 12.5% abv. Interesting and worthwhile wine, but not for the tariff. (88 pts.)
2003 Azienda Agricola Montevertine Toscana IGT- Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT (6/6/2009)
Medium ruby/garnet color. Pretty on the nose with elements of red cherry, mushroom and leather, with dusty spice in the background. On the palate it was less expressive than on the nose, although still persistent, medium bodied and attractive. (90 pts.)
