Some recent tastes. I picked up the Humbert on Twelftree’s recommendation from K&L and am happy to have done so.

2005 Domaine Humbert Frères Gevrey-Chambertin - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin (10/1/2009)
A middleweight wine, very pretty and very sappy. Sweet red fruits, dusty loamy earth, a medicinal twinge and hints of herbs and spice. A bit of a short / washed out finish perhaps but a minor complaint at the price. While perhaps a touch simple this is an honest and thoroughly tasty wine now and undoubtedly better in a few years. -
2004 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques Vieille Vigne - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru (9/28/2009)
Given several hours to open this is very sappy with good weight. Dark red fruits, medicinal notes, a bit of iron and, unfortunately, mirepoix. Not enough to halt enjoyment, by any stretch, but enough to definitely notice and not be able to ignore. Could use a bit more focus, and who knows on the aging curve given the meanies showing up, this was just a singleton for me and provided more enjoyment than most 04’s have, but I’m still glad to have few 04’s left. -
2001 Domaine Fourrier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Gruenchers - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru (9/28/2009)
VA. Ruined. 01 Fourrier seems to pretty much be a write off across the board, Griottes, Gruenchers, Champeaux and Clos St Jacques all having been marred by VA lately. Pfffft…
