TNR: 2010 Montevertine's Montevertine

Anyone had vintage 2010 of Montevertine’s Montevertine rosso? Thanks.

Decided to take one for the team. The first thing that occurred to me was how different this is compared to the 2009 which had definite characteristics of both pine and saline in its profile. I did not pick up on any of that with this vintage. This is more about red fruit and spice. Very fresh and pure, there isn’t too much earthiness present. The 2010 seems a lot more ready for business than the previous vintage did upon release, but it will undoubtedly improve with some time in the bottle. They don’t call this Chianti and you don’t feel like its Chianti that you are drinking. Very refined and complete, it’s 13% alcohol is invisible. If its your style, highly recommended.

Sounds great Michael and thanks for posting I will try one of mine soon then:-) Did you decant or slox-ox or just p&p

Look forward to trying this weekend, recently picked up my bottles. This is one wine I buy year in and year out. Just love what they are doing and how they’ve picked up where Sergio left off

Thanks Michael. I have a couple of these, but was planning on waiting a little bit to try one. Surprised that this shows more accessible than the 09. Sounds terrific!

Popped and poured on day 1. Revisited on day 2 after just recorking and keeping at room temperature; held up very well becoming even more expressive. If drinking young, it will benefit from a short decanting.

Loved it. Bought a handful. The 2009 was shockingly tight in July. Best to leave that vintage be for a while. The 2010 has, so far, been open for business. Hard to resist but the track record for aging is solid.
