I have it arriving tomorrow and will taste & let you know. We had the '06 Sunday night and it was drinking great. From what I hear the '07 is better, I’m looking forward to it.
had it 2 weeks ago with Andy and Annie; another spectacular showing; good balance, great bouquet, big, but not overpowering and nice medium length finish
Opened the bottle at 7:15 PM, so we can have it for dinner at 9. Splashed a little in a small glass. For me, little or no nose yet. Took a sip, tight as hell but not overly hot with alcohol. Hints of coffee first with a tease of black fruits. There is a mouthfeel that indicates it will have a good long finish when it opens up.
Carrie will post educated, professional notes tomorrow.
John,
It’s a brodeaux blend that Andy Erickson makes. 41% Cab, 32% Merlot, 21% Syrah and 7% Cabernet Franc, that was the blend of the '06, I’m not sure if the '07 is the same.
Opened for 2.5 hours then splash decanted, poured back into the bottle and had with pizza. Very tight but it’s obvious there is really good potential with coffee, blackberry, spice and hints of toasty oak. There is rich black fruit from the Syrah and dark cherry/chocolate comes through from the Cab Franc. This baby needs plenty of time if your are going to even think about consuming near term. I would say give it at least a year+ .
We can crack one at Berserkerfest for you to try, I’ll open it at least Friday morning.
