Up tonite: 2003 Clos des Papes havent had one in a while.
Oh boy for me much better than 06 and this particular bottle was good about year ago I guess I had it. Ive been whiffing on 06 left and right, especially Turley.
That brings up a question: does Zinfandel follow the same rules as other varietals? In other words, given the incredibly disparity in vine ages, and disparities in microclimates, is it possible to characterize an entire vintage of Zin? Obviously ALL vintage generalities are somewhat problematic, but is it even more so for Zin? Carlisle made some of his best zin in '06, better than the '05 imo. As far as the Rosenblum, unless you can find some recent tasting notes, I would not bite. There are a lot of really good wines out there right now for $17. Some of the Rosenblum zins that I have had tasted like cough syrup to me, so I stopped buying them a few years ago. Unless you are worried about the swine flu, you probably do not need close to 5 liters of cough medicine. Bill, quick question: if you had to choose between a Bryan’s rib-eye and the rib cap, which would you choose? I am a noob to Bryan’s meat (that just did not sound right!).
