TN: Wines To Celebrate A New Home

2004 Rhys Alesia Pinot Noir Kanzler Vineyard - Celebrating our first home made dinner in our new house. Underbrush, clay, juniper and sweet mint on the nose. Juniper and underbursh continued to the attack giving it a little bit of a wild quality at first. Switches to a pure sweet cocoa finish with plenty of bracing acidity to prevent the sweetness from being over the top. This had definitely picked up some more complexity with another 9 months in the bottle from my last visit. Went very well with grilled lemon pepper chicken.

1999 Luigi Pira Barolo Marenca-Since we are still experiencing early spring in the North East, went for a cool weather wine to go with penne and spicy sausage. Still a youngster, nice nose of leather, pipe tobacco, espresso and stony earth. Gentle on the attack with some nice cool black fruit, but quite subtle through the mid palate but then veryl aggressive tannins on the back end. Another 5+ years before I check in again.

We’ll pop the champagne when we close on the old house this week!

Congrats and thanks for the notes Jud! I need to dig out a Kanzler this year.

As usual your TN’s are perfect!!! Congrats (again) on your new home Jud. I’ll PM you soon on you know what  [cheers.gif]
