A wee BloodyPulpit:
- It’s been awhile since I’d tried a Willm GWT, so grabbed a btl to fill out the case. I didn’t realize it was now owned by Ostertags. Assume they’re related to Andre Ostertag?
A Willm ClosGaensbroennel GWT '59 was the first wine that ignited my love for Alsace GWT. Alas…with the prevalence of the Z-H style of GWT (over-ripe, off-dry, high alcohol, low acidity) now in Alsace, Alsace GWT buys are few & far between. For great GWT that goes w/ my weenies & kraut, I got to the AltoAdige & Val d’Aosta.
This GWT was actually a pretty decent GWT…by today’s standards in Alsace. The scale on the back indicated it was slightly sweet. I had a few glasses of it w/ my pasta dish, but found I tired of it pretty fast and wished for something w/ more zing & acidity.
