TN: Villa Creek 2006 "High Road" Paso Robles, "James Berry" Vineyard

There are many reasons to admire and support Villa Creek Cellars. A few:

  • The wines are great
  • Cris and Jo Anne are terriffic
  • The prices remain fine bargains
  • They are from Paso Robles
  • Screwcaps

OK - the '06 “High Road.” This one is 15.8% alcohol (but not hot). 50% syrah, 30% grenache, 20% mourvedre. Grapes from one of my favorite vineyards.

Popped and poured. Dark ruby red. Enticing red-fruit aromas. Rasberries, blueberries and a hint of white pepper on the palate. Well balanced with a great mouthfeel. Lingering aftertaste.

92+ points.

I’ve consistently enjoyed Cris and Jo Anne’s wines. I have dropped about half of my mailers. Not this one.

thanks for the note…I agree with all the things you have to say about VC…great wines, good people…the High Road is my favorite bottling of theirs as well

Had the '05 last weekend. Really delicious stuff that paired great with some grilled lambchops.

Agree completely. I’m in their automatic shipment club and never regret it.
