Thursday night out, three couples to a solid Spanish restaurant in Norwalk CT. Ordered about 20 Tapas and drank well.
Drank side by side, these two wonderful wines complemented each other extremely well and certainly did so with the food. The Unico is still a very youthful dark ruby red with an intoxicating nose of creamy vanilla and dark fruits. Long, juicy, good tannic backbone but so pleasurable and with at least 20 more years of life left. Truly great wine. The Bosconia GR 1964 is akin to drinking an older Burgundy. Class and finesse to spare. Obviously lighter than the Unico but still not overpowered by any means, it is a sensual wine that offers plenty of sweet Rioja fruit, good acidity and just enough tannin for support. Forest floor, mushrooms and some animal notes on the nose. Interestingly enough, after two hours, everyone preferred the Lopez. Killer wine.
