Clos du Mount-Olivet AC: CdP (CuveeUnique; NiFiltre-NiColle; MeBalP; 13%) Les Fils de JosephSabon 2003: Med.dark color w/ slight bricking; deep Grenache/fruity/plummy bit earthy/garrigue light toasty/oak rather alcoholic/fumey some bretty/horsecollat/horsey bit complex nose; soft/fat light plummy/Grenache/strawberry/big fruit quite hot/alcoholic/fumey rather bretty/barnyardy flavor w/ light astringent tannins; med.long quite bretty/horsey/barnyardy big/grapey/Grenache/very ripe rather hot/fumey finish w/ modest astringent/bitter tannins; not very pleasant to drink because of the alcohol & brett; the 13% is a joke. $40.00 (NBI)

Kenneth-Crawford Syrah ThompsonVnyd/SBC (13.7%; www.KennethCrawford.com) Buellton 2002: Very dark color w/ little bricking; very strong peppery/Thompson intense blackberry/Syrah/boyenberry/ripe some pungent/licorice/RCCola some complex beautiful classic SBC Syrah nose; soft/ripe/lush intense blackberry/Syrah/boysenberry/licorice rather peppery/Thompson light toasty/oak flavor w/ modest/smooth tannins; very long/lingering strong peppery/Thompson very strong spicy/blackberry/Syrah/boysenberry bit licorice/RCCola/pungent some complex finish w/ light gentle tannins; speaks strongly of Thompson/peppery Syrah; in a beautiful fully-mature olace right now and probably at its peak; a beautiful SBC Syrah. $26.00
