TN: Two w/ Dinner..(Thackrey/Scherrer)..(short/boring)

Tried Thurs night after fencing:

  1. SeanThackrey Viognier NobleVnyd::KnightsVlly/SonomaCnty (14.3%; www.wine-maker.net) Sebastopol 2010: Light gold color; fairly fragrant peach/pear/Viog slight herbal/honeyed/nutmeg slight alcoholic/hot perfumed classic Viog nose; soft/fat/some underacid bit hot/alcoholic rather fragrant peach/pear/Viog slight bitter flavor; med. rather soft/fat fairly perfumed/floral/pear/peach/Viog/honeyed slight hot/alcoholic bit bitter finish; a pleasant enough 4-square Viog but a bit too alcoholic/hot and lack of acid makes it very tiring on the palate; just doesn’t sing to me; overpriced at $39.50 (MX)

  1. Scherrer explorations Zinfandoodle SonomaCnty Zin (14.5%; v8.9) Sebastopol NV : Dark color; strong blackberry/boysenberry/Zin slight metallic/ozone/pungent quite fragrant somewhat dusty/old vines rather pencilly/oak nose; somewhat tart bit pungent/dusty/old vines rather big/blackberry/boysenberry/Zin slight angular/metallic/pungent/burning metal/worn brake shoe flavor; med.long strong blackberry/boysenberry/Zin some tannic/angular bit clunky some pencilly/oak finish; not the bright fragrant Zinberry character Fred’s Zins usually show and a bit on the rough/oafish side but a fun Zin at a fair price. $20.75 (MX)

And the usual pedantic ponderings from TheBloodyPulpit:

  1. I noticed on SeanThackery’s wine that it carried a Sebastapol address, rather than his usual Bolinas address. Does that mean he’s now located in Sebastapol?? Egads…that will be the death of the famed SeanThackrey terroir from his eucalyptus grove there in Bolinas. Say it isn’t so.
